PIANO REPAIR
There are many hundreds of moving parts in a piano made of wood, steel, felt, and leather. Sometimes these components are not working together correctly and need adjusting and sometimes they even break and need replacement. I am prepared to fix many of the most common problems that come up in pianos, new and old. I will always keep in mind what is appropriate for your piano and needs.
PIANO TUNING
Like any stringed instrument, adjustment is needed to keep the strings at their proper pitch. Each of the over 250 strings in a piano must be individually adjusted to make them all sound perfect together. Broad changes in weather, especially humidity, affect the tuning of pianos so regular tuning is key to keeping your piano sounding its best.
PIANO PLAYING
I am a versatile pianist available for your next project or event. Having the dual role of tuner and player has many benefits and helps me be prepared for almost any situation. I am available for live events like weddings, musicals, dinners, and accompanying your next performance. I also can record accompaniment and rehearsal tracks. MY STORY
I am a Certified Piano Technician, trained at University of Western Ontario's Piano Technology programme. I did not grow up playing piano and only discovered how much I loved it at age 15. As the end of my secondary education was drawing near I made the choice to depart from the many math and science courses I had been taking in preparation for engineering and to become a piano tuner instead. The programme in the Faculty of Music was the only in Canada and admitted only 14 people each year. Many of my classmates were on second careers and I was the youngest to graduate from the programme. It has now ceased.
